The Phasor series ultrasonic flaw detectors now comes available in four different models with upgraded features and benefits. The Phasor is built on the Krautkramer platform of the USN60 making it powerful, yet simple and fast to operate and setup.

The Phasor CV is a code-compliant conventional ultrasonic flaw detector that can be UPGRADED to Phasor 16/16 Weld or to the Phasor XS. Upgrading to phased array is a quick and easy software upgrade to Phasor 16/16 Weld or Phasor XS. No changes to the base unit hardware are required and utilizing the same simple menu-driven interface as the Phasor CV model, training is minimal. Combined with phased array transducers, both platforms can solve your most demanding inspection applications in less time at an affordable price.

The Phasor 16/16 Weld or Phasor XS can switch to conventional UT quickly so that inspectors can use any standard transducer to evaluate detected flaws (locating and sizing) to any specified standard or test instruction. Reduces inspection time by 50% over conventional UT and allows for a 30% better possibility of detection (POD).

The Phasor XS is compatible with The Rhythm UT software suite which combines advanced image acquisition, review and data management tools for phased array images taken with the Phasor XS. Its advanced data sharing capabilities allow significant improvements in productivity and enable faster identification of quality problems, leading to reduced production defects or better in-service asset management. The Phasor XS offers TOPVIEW scans in timed or encoded mode.

The latest Phasor CV/DM combines a phased array imaging device and a conventional flaw detector into one instrument, with a phased array probe which allows significantly increased confidence in corrosion inspection data. Compared with traditional thickness gauge and flaw detector inspection, it offers greater probability of detection of corrosion pits, faster and more reliable scanning.

Phasor CV (Conventional)

The Phasor CV is a portable and rugged, code-compliant conventional ultrasonic testing instrument built in an easy-to-use package. It is the first conventional ultrasonic testing instrument that can be UPGRADED to phased array capability when you’re ready to do so. The instrument is upgraded in the same unit, using the same easy-to-use operational interface, allowing for quicker training.

The Phasor CV can be UPGRADED to either the Phasor 16/16 WELD or the Phasor XS.

Phasor 16/16 Weld

The Phasor 16/16 Weld ultrasonic flaw detector brings the proven advantage of Phased Array imaging to a new – and accessible – level. This portable and rugged device combines the productivity advantages of phased array with a code-compliant conventional ultrasonic flaw detector. Combined with GE Phased Array probes, the Phasor XS can solve your most demanding inspection applications in less time at an affordable price. The Phasor 16/16 Weld has 16/16 capability, comes with a weld inspection package and is UPGRADEABLE to Phasor XS 16/64 with TOPView.

Weld inspection often requires two or three angle beam transducers (45, 60, and 70 degrees) to comply with industry standards. A significant amount of time is spent on locating & connecting/reconnecting transducers, calibrating, and scanning the same volume multiple times. By electronically steering the beam, the Phasor XS can inspect at angles from 0 degrees to 90 degrees eliminating the need for multiple transducers and scans.

In addition, often the optimum inspection is not at one of the fixed angles. The Phasor XS automatically identifies the optimum inspection angle and allows the operator to replay the associated A-scan.

Phasor XS 16/64 – Topview – Frameview

The Phasor XS has 16/64 capability and encoded TOPView for area scanning, in addition to all the features found in the Phasor CV

TOPView allows the user view the scanned area from the top. This perspective is generated using the gated region in the Sector scan or Linear B-scan. Using TOPView, users can easily and more accurately record indications. TOPView also offers these enhanced features:

Gate data points simultaneously buffered for Time of Flight and Amplitude from both gates for evaluation in Freeze Analysis mode.

Dataset file records gate points (A-scans are not part of stored data.)

Selectable Interface Gate Start mode for varying delay path

Peak A-scan display

Rhythm Acquire

Rhythm Acquires allows users to customize a menu selection of relevant data required to be collected with the image–details such as name of inspector, location, items being inspected, date, time, and defect classification can also entered. The operator is also able to input descriptions along with the image and provide any other additional notes that will be retained with the image in the DICONDE non-proprietary and reliable format.

Rhythm Review

Rhythm Review accepts data from Rhythm Acquire, other Rhythm Review workstations, and removable media, such as CDs and DVDs. It provides application tools for analysis, enhancement, measurement, reporting and storage of received data.
